Why North America?

North America, home to the United States and Canada, leads in setting global consumer trends. The mosaic of cultures it harbours gives the region unrivaled advantage in communicating to and reaching out to the world.
If you’ve captured North America, you've touched the world!

The United States

The United States is the world’s largest economy, and it has a free-trade agreement with South Korea. This, of course, provides new and vast opportunities for exports and imports of agri-food products at lower prices.

With the Korea-U.S. FTA, American farm exports to Korea are expected to increase by as much as $1.8 billion every year, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.

With the U.S. expected to enjoy such export boons, Korea's agri-food exporters would also reap the benefits of market opening.

Canada

AgriVogue’s anchor location is Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada, and not a U.S. city. We believe Canada, through British Columbia, is another strategic entry point to the North American market. This is because B.C.is at the center of the “Canada’s Pacific Gateway” initiative, which is aimed at “connecting Asia to North America.” Government and industry players in Canada have embraced B.C. as the “preferred gateway for Asia-Pacific trade, with the most competitive supply chain on the west coast of the Americas,” as underscored in the Canada’s Pacific Gateway home page www.pacificgateway.gov.bc.ca.

British Columbia is also part of the New West Partnership that includes the other Western Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, which boast a rich natural-resource base and a vigorous agri-food industry.

The unprecedented partnership agreement, signed in April 2010, aims to strengthen and promote the Western part of Canada in the global economy, which means ongoing efforts to establish a business-friendly environment. Easier access to this economically strong part of Western Canada means a wealth of new bilateral agri-food trade opportunities for South Korea.

Moreover, because the U.S. is the world’s largest economy, the U.S. port city of Los Angeles along the west coast is a household name across the globe. Consequently, Canada is not as widely considered a priority strategic market-entry point. AgriVogue, therefore, is keen on supporting entry into the Canadian market, which is connected to all major U.S. economic hubs. Both markets also share the same consumer trends and many of the distribution channels. Penetrating the Canadian market ahead of the U.S. market could also be a better strategy for some businesses.
